Research Goal My research goal is to use pharmacogenetics to make a predictive model for therapies used on post-menopausal women with breast cancer.
Description of Your Research My research involves utilizing samples obtained from a clinical trial where breast cancer patients were randomly assigned exemestane or letrozole. By testing for bone turnover markers, genotyping individuals for genetic characterization, and determining estrone sulfate concentrations, we can better understand the musculoskeletal effects of aromatase inhibitors.
Examples Of How My Research Is Integrated Into My GK-12 Experience My research involves understanding how drugs affect the body. This pertains to all areas of biology and is easily integrated into lessons on DNA, enzymes, cellular activities, and environment.
Currently, My GK-12 Classroom Is Investigating My GK-12 is currently investigating enzyme biology and kinetics. | ![]() |
